SEM MX-Series Sound Enclosures
The SEM MX-Series provides custom made, built to order, modular sound enclosures for disintegrator systems. The series includes three base models: The SEM MX-37, SEM MX-40, and SEM MX-48 to meet the needs of any room or machine.
Sound enclosures provide ultimate operator and environmental health and safety by mitigating sound and debris from the destruction process. The modular design also allows ease of access for any future movement, repair, or addition to a destruction system or solution.
What to Know About Sound Enclosures
Best-in-Class Construction
All three SEM MX-Series sound enclosures are made with solid steel construction, a vibration dampening liner, encapsulated mineral wool, and a gasket seal for doors. It is recommended to have a 10’ by 12’ room for most sound enclosures.
Works With Any SEM Disintegrator
SEM MX-Series sound enclosures are fully customizable to be compatible with any of SEM’s disintegrator options. That means whether you’re looking for a low volume solution like the SEM Model 1012/5 or a high volume solution like the Model 3000, an MX-Series sound enclosure can be constructed for ultimate operator safety and protection.
Sound and Strength
Sound Transmission Class (STC) is the most commonly used sound rating in North America for determining airborne sound transmission and loss. A higher STC rating demonstrates higher performance. The MX number in the sound enclosure class is directly correlated to the product’s STC rating.
Inversely, the gauge of steel is stronger the lower the number. So a gauge of 14 is stronger than a gauge of 16.

Briquettors
While shredding sensitive documents eliminates security concerns, it doesn’t solve disposal issues — which is where briquetting systems come in. From small systems to room-size, fully automated processes, SEM briquettors reduce large volumes of loose waste into small, manageable — and fully recyclable — briquettes.
