Security Engineered Machinery, located in Westborough, MA is seeking a candidate to fill the position of Mechanical Engineer. This Engineer will be involved in the development and design of system controls for large industrial devices used in the sanitation of physical and electronic media. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in development of electrical controls, actuators, mechanisms, and electrical interfaces. In this function, the Engineer will also interface with all disciplines and be involved with the sales teams on large three-phase power capital systems requiring formal layouts using Autocad, BOMs, and calculations along with PLC controls and design of electrical controls.

Major Responsibilities:   

  • Create electrical schematics and logic using Autocad
  • Estimate budgets and time scopes for each project
  • Writing Technical Documentation
  • Support of new and existing products and also improving said products
  • Designing devices to monitor and control systems and machinery
  • Defining control algorithms and selection of tools
  • Overseeing installations
  • Development and implementation of hardware and software for control equipment
  • Ensuring that products meet compliance and regulations required
  • Produce facility layouts of large capital equipment using Autocad
  • Bill of Material (BOM) creation

Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree in or 3 years of experience in Control System Engineering / Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with AutoCAD for layouts and Electrical Control
  • Solid Works experience is a plus
  • Electrical Control Panel Design for 3-phase power devises
  • Analytical and competent technical writing skills
  • Good communication skills: including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project
  • Understanding of and ability to apply engineering principals
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications, graphs, and compilation of data
  • Must be able to read and create electrical schematics
  • Must be able to work with and program PLCs
  • Operation of measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers is a must
  • Ability to discern power requirements for large capital equipment
  • Experience with 3 phase power
